Real Madrid star Gareth Bale agrees to return to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Andros Townsend has his say on the situation of former Tottenham teammate Gareth Bale

Speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Football.london), former Tottenham Hotspur star Andros Townsend has claimed that ex-Spurs teammate Gareth Bale would be wishing to return to the North London club and put an end to his misery at Real Madrid.

Bale left Tottenham for Real Madrid back in the summer of 2013. And while he has tasted immense success during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has never been able to win over the fans. And the Welsh wing wizard has completely fallen out of favour with current manager Zinedine Zidane.

So much so that, Bale did not travel to England for Madrid’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg tie against Manchester City. An exit has been mooted for a while, but Bale’s agent has insisted that the Welshman will see his contract out at Real Madrid.

However, Townsend, who played at Tottenham with Bale, has claimed that his former teammate would be wishing that he was back at our club, where he was the main man. (h/t Football.london)

“I think if anything the Bale situation, he’d want to go back to Spurs. The memories of Spurs. His happiness. He was the main man.

“He was loved, was at the top of his game. So, if anything I think it would work the other way. He would be like ‘I wish I was at Spurs now and had the freedom to do whatever I want.”

As much as we’d love to have Bale back at Tottenham, the finances of the deal would make it nearly impossible to sign him. Indeed, he is currently on wages of £350,000 per-week after tax at Real Madrid. This would be too high for Spurs to afford.
