Tottenham ramp up talks with Inter for Milan Skriniar
According to a report from Tuttosport (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have intensified talks with Serie A giants Inter Milan over the potential transfer of Milan Skriniar.
The 25-year-old Slovakian centre-back joined Inter from Serie A rivals Sampdoria back in 2017. In the three years since, he has grown into one of the most reliable centre-backs in Italy and Europe.
However, his future at the club has been cast in doubt of late, after manager Antonio Conte has overloooked him for a series of fixtures post lockdown. As per the report, the club are now ready to offload him should they be able to find a replacement.
And Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the 25-year-old Skriniar. It had earlier been reported that Inter wanted to sign Tanguy Ndombele and were willing to offer Skriniar in exchange. But Tottenham have no interest in selling the Frenchman.
So, the two clubs are now embroiled in negotiations over the possibility of a transfer for the centre-back. However, a deal is still some way away from being done. (h/t Football.london)
Our defence was all over the place last season. None of the centre-backs performed on a consistent basis and with Jan Vertonghen leaving, the signing of a new central defender has become of paramount importance.
Skriniar, to that end, would be an excellent signing for the club. The 25-year-old is a top-class defender with his best years still ahead of him.
