Son Heung-min wins PL Goal of the Season for 2019/20
Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min has won the 2019/20 Budweiser Goal of the Season award for his sensational individual effort against Burnley, the Premier League has confirmed on its official website.
The strike in question came in our 5-0 win over the Clarets back in December last year.
It was a moment of magic that will remain long-etched in the memories of the fans. The 27-year-old picked up the ball on the edge of our box and then went on a slaloming run. He left six Burnley players tattering in his wake, before calmly slotting the ball past Nick Pope in the goal.
In the process, Sonny had covered a total of 71.4 metres, in just 11 seconds before making the Clarets’ net bulge. It was the second-longest distance travelled by a player to score a goal in a PL match, behind Andros Townsend for Crystal Palace in 2016/17.
One of the finest ever goals scored by a Tottenham player, it has now been named the Premier League 2019/20 Goal of the Season. You can see the spectacular individual effort below.

Son beat off competition from the likes of Harvey Barnes (Leicester v Sheffield United), Moussa Djenepo (Southampton v Sheffield United) and Matt Longstaff (Newcastle v Manchester United) to win the accolade.
The likes of Alireza Jahanbakhsh (Brighton v Chelsea), Matej Vydra (Burnley v Southampton), Bruno Fernandes (United v Brighton) and Kevin De Bruyne (City v Norwich) were also in the running.
Prior to this, Son’s strike was named as Tottenham’s Goal of the Season, and the club ‘Goal of the Decade’. It was also named the BBC Match of the Day’s Goal of the Season.
