Agent of Timothy Castagne drops exit hint amid Tottenham interest

Speaking to Belgian outlet HLN, as reported by Football Italia, Zenon Melon, who is the agent of Atalanta defender and Tottenham target Timothy Castagne, has dropped a major hint that his client could be on his way out.

The 24-year-old started out at the academy of RE Virton and then spent a number of years at KRC Genk, before making the switch to Atalanta back in 2017. Since joining the Italian outfit, he has grown into a key member of the team.

Till date, Castagne has made 96 appearances for the Bergamo-based outfit, scoring eight goals and setting up ten more.

The Belgian international had a decent 2019/20 campaign, as he featured 33 times in all competitions, netting twice and creating three more, helping the club to a third-place finish in the Serie A and a quarter-final run in the Champions League.

Castagne has been previously linked with a switch to Tottenham. The 24-year-old himself has hinted that he will be open to joining Spurs should an opportunity present itself. And now, his agent, Melon, has claimed that the Belgian right-back will be considering his options after Atalanta’s season came to an end on Wednesday. (h/t Football Italia)

“Timothy has done very well in the last three seasons, but I don’t think he can do more than what he did at Atalanta. Now we will evaluate all the options. The player, until yesterday, was focused on the Champions League. Now, let’s see how the market evolves.”

Our right-back situation, at the moment, is quite bleak. Apart from Serge Aurier, there is no other senior right-sided full-back in the squad. And with the Ivorian also being linked with an exit, a new right-back is a must this summer.

Castagne, to that end, would be a good acquisition. The Belgian has experience at the highest level and has his best years ahead of him. With the player also open to a switch, the club should seriously consider a swoop.
