Manchester City eyeing shock swoop for Harry Winks
According to a report from The Sun, Premier League runners-up Manchester City are plotting a summer raid on Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of midfield mainstay Harry Winks.
The 24-year-old midfielder is a product of our youth academy. He made his first-team debut back in August 2016 in a Premier League game against Liverpool. Since then, Winks has grown into a key member of the team, while also breaking into the England national team.
Till date, Winks has made 143 first-team appearances for the club, scoring two goals in the process. The recently concluded campaign saw the 24-year-old make 41 appearances across all competitions.
Winks missed just two of our league games since the turn of the year and even captained the team on one occasion, highlighting his value to the side.
And now, Manchester City are lining up a bid to sign the 24-year-old as manager Pep Guardiola is believed to be a huge admirer of the player. (h/t The Sun)
The report also states that the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton could impact Winks’ game time. And Tottenham would consider selling him should an offer upwards of £40m come along.

Winks signed a new long-term contract with the club only last year. Plus, given how prominently featured under Jose, it is very much unlikely that the club will entertain any offer for the England international.
The arrival of Hojbjerg should only bolster our midfield unit further, not force one of our crucial players out of the side. City better look elsewhere to boost their options in the middle of the park.
