Tottenham to table a contract offer for Milan Skriniar
According to a report from FCInterNews (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a contract offer for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, as talks over a swap deal involving him and Tanguy Ndombele continue.
Speculations surrounding a potential swap deal that would see Skriniar move to Tottenham and Ndombele join Inter Milan have been doing the rounds for a while now. It has been claimed that Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte sees the 23-year-old Frenchman as an ideal fit into his side. (h/t Football.london)
At the same time, he has, of late, phased Skriniar out of his starting XI, indicating that the Slovakian international could be sold in the summer. (h/t Express)
And Tottenham are now planning to take advantage of Skriniar’s situation and try to convince him to move to the Premier League. (h/t Express)
After what was a tumultuous 2019/20 campaign, it goes without saying that we are in need of reinforcements, especially at the back, given the performances of our defenders. Furthermore, the departure of Jan Vertonghen has created a vacancy in the centre-back department, that needs to be filled.
Skriniar, to that end, would be a brilliant acquisition. The 25-year-old is one of the most reliable defenders in the Serie A. Given his age and proven credentials, he could turn out to be the leader of our backline for years to come.

As far as swapping him for Ndombele is concerned, the Frenchman has had a disappointing debut campaign in England. And while the club has maintained that the 23-year-old is not for sale, it is also being claimed that Jose Mourinho does not have a place for him in his plans.
Should that, indeed, be the case, then letting him move to Italy, in exchange for a quality operator like Skriniar would be a top move. More so, considering that we have already strengthened our midfield with the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
