Tottenham make enquiry for Brighton star Ben White
According to a report from The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have asked Brighton & Hove Albion about the possibility of signing defender Ben White, who is also on the radars of Liverpool and Manchester United.
The 22-year-old White came through the youth ranks at Brighton & Hove Albion. After loan stints away at Newport County and Peterborough United, the centre-back spent the last term with Leeds United. He was one of their best players as the Whites earned promotion back to the Premier League.
Naturally, this has sparked a lot of interest in the Englishman with a host of clubs lining up to sign him. Leeds United are keen on signing White on a permanent basis. (h/t The Sun)
Along with them, both Liverpool and Manchester United have also registered an interest, while Tottenham, too, are believed to have made an enquiry. Even Chelsea and Leicester City are also monitoring the situation of the young defender. (h/t The Sun)
Given the state of our defence in the season gone by, it goes without saying that a new centre-back should be high on the agenda in the ongoing transfer window. The need for reinforcements is only heightened by the vacancy left following the departure of Jan Vertonghen.
And White could be a natural long-term option to our squad. The Englishman has demonstrated great potential in his fledgling career and under the guidance of an accomplished coach like Jose Mourinho, he could grow into a leader of our defence in the years to come.
