Jose Mourinho reveals he is learning Korean
Speaking at the launch of Amazon’s ‘All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur’ docu-series (h/t The Sun), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is learning Korean to improve communication with star player Son Heung-min.
Mourinho took over the reins at Tottenham back in November last year, following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino. The Portuguese endured a difficult half season with the club. Although, he did show signs of steadying the ship towards the end of the campaign.
With the Portuguese now set to embark on his first full season with Spurs, he is pulling out all the stops to ensure that the club is back where it belongs.
Mourinho already speaks six languages – English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Catalan and French. And he has now revealed that he is learning Korean, as it was important he understood the different cultures at the club. (h/t The Sun)
“Communication is very important when I am with the group. I have to go to the native language, which everybody understand. It’s respectful to the culture of the club to speak the language of the individuals in it. And with the players, I jump into their language — that is why I am learning Korean.”
Son was one of the brightest spots for us once Mourinho took over the reins. The South Korean international scored 12 goals under the Portuguese, helping us finish within the top six and achieve Europa League qualification for next season.
