Tottenham have no chance to sign Allan

Speaking to Calcio Napoli 24 Live (h/t Football.london), journalist Ciro Venerato has claimed that Tottenham have been told they have no chance to sign Allan from Napoli, with the midfielder closing on a transfer to Everton.

The 29-year-old has been with Napoli since 2015, having arrived from fellow Serie A outfit Udinese. During his time with the club, the Brazilian has grown into one of the best midfielders in Italy.

However, this past season saw him slip down the pecking order under the management of Gennaro Gattuso. Allan featured just 23 times in the Serie A in 2019/20, scoring two goals and setting up one more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

As a result, Allan has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Italy, with a reunion with former manager Carlo Ancelotti at Everton mooted. And now, journalist Venerato has confirmed that a deal with the Toffees is close, with Spurs among a trio of club being told their chances of a deal are over. (h/t Football.london)

As per the journalist, Allan has agreed a contract worth €3.5m-a-year plus half a million in bonuses.

“I get word that Napoli has already communicated to Tottenham, Atlético Madrid and West Ham that the player will go to Everton.”

Having signed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg already this summer, it does seem a tad unlikely that Tottenham would have been in the market for another central midfielder.

And there haven’t been any reports of the club’s interest in Allan either. But Venerato’s claims indicate that the club may have attempted to move for the Brazilian behind the scenes. Nevertheless, it seems like the 29-year-old is set to sign for Everton.
