Tottenham keen on signing Joshua King from Bournemouth

According to talkSPORT (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Norwegian striker Joshua King from EFL Championship side Bournemouth.

King has been in England since 2008, when he joined the Manchester United academy. However, having failed to make the grade at Old Trafford, the attacker moved to Blackburn where he flourished, before joining Bournemouth in 2015.

Since joining the Cherries, the 28-year-old has scored 50 goals and registered 17 assists in 170 appearances. However, the Norwegian international endured a difficult 2019/20 campaign, finding the back of the net on six occasions, while setting up four goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)

In spite of that, Tottenham are looking to sign him up and as per the report, the club has already held talks with the forward’s agent, who was in London last week.

It is no secret that Tottenham were found wanting for quality depth in the attacking department last season. We do not have a quality backup for star striker Harry Kane. With him getting injured earlier this year, along with the likes of Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn, it brutally exposed the lack of depth in our squad.

So, signing a new forward should be a top priority for Jose Mourinho & co. before the season kicks off in less than two weeks’ time.

King is not the only player being linked with Spurs. His Bournemouth teammate Callum Wilson is also touted as target for us.

King may not have had the best of the seasons last time out. But his experience in the Premier League, coupled with his versatility would make him a decent signing for us. But it remains to be seen if the club do make a move for the Norwegian international.
