Tottenham interested in Jovane Cabral
According to Football Insider via Sportslens (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have made an approach to sign 22-year-old winger Jovane Cabral from Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon.
The 22-year-old Cabral started out at Nhagar in his homeland Cape Verde, before moving to Sporting youth setup in 2014. Since then, he has progressed through the ranks to become a regular fixture in the first-team.
Till date, he has featured 52 times for the Sporting first-team, contributing with 10 goals and 11 assists in the process. The winger particularly impressed in the season gone by, netting six goals and setting up three more in just 16 Portuguese league outings. (h/t Transfermarkt)
And, this has seemingly put him on the radars of Tottenham Hotspur. Jose Mourinho’s men are currently not short on options on the flanks. Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela, Son Heung-min, Steven Bergwijn are all regulars, while Jack Clarke and Ryan Sessegnon are also options.
However, given Clarke’s lack of experience, he may be loaned out this summer once again. And the dearth of options at left-back mean Sessegnon is likely to be moved to that spot on a permanent basis this summer.
With Moura and Lamela failing to make the best of impression last term, adding another wide player might not be the worst idea.
Cabral is not the only player Mourinho seems to be considering as Leicester City winger Demarai Gray is also on the club’s radar.

Tottenham have brought in three players this summer, all of whom will improve the quality of the squad. But the work is far from being done.
A new striker and a centre-back should be a top priority for us. But a new winger would also go some way in helping us next season. So, it will be interesting to see if the club does go after Cabral this summer.
