Wolverhampton Wanderers among those keen on Tottenham Hotspur star Danny Rose
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to let defender Danny Rose leave the club this summer.
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho brought in Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matt Doherty to strengthen his full-back position last week. With Ben Davies securing the other flank, Rose will have to play a backup role at the club.
This could hamper his hopes of making the England squad for next season’s European Championships. A move away will not only let the club rid themselves of an unwanted player but also help him realize more playtime.
One of the teams in the fray for Rose is Wolverhampton Wanderers. Nuno Espirito Santo is short of wing-backs following Jonny Otto’s injury and Doherty’s departure. (h/t The Telegraph)
According to the report, Rose could act as a temporary replacement for Jonny. This can pave the way for the Spain international to shift to the other flank when he returns.
Wolves are the only Premier League side yet to add to their senior squad this summer. With the new season closing in, it remains to be seen if they will indeed take a punt on Rose.
The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United. Despite his return, he is not part of Mourinho’s first-team plans. (h/t The Telegraph)
With just a year to go on his Spurs contract, the club will do well to sell Rose this summer than risk losing him on a free in a twelve months’ time.
