Tottenham to focus on Habib Diallo to strengthen attack
According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have decided to focus solely on Metz centre-forward Habib Diallo in order to reinforce the attacking department.
It is no secret that the club are in dire need of a new striker. Spurs’ manager Jose Mourinho has Harry Kane as the only option for the centre-forward role currently, after having loaned out Troy Parrott.
While Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn can play through the middle neither are natural in the position. And going into the season without a natural backup for Kane would be football suicide.
Tottenham have been linked with a host of forwards in recent weeks, with Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson being a prominent name. However, as per the report, the club will now discard the interest in the Englishman and will completely turn their attention towards Diallo. (h/t Football.london)
The 25-year-old Diallo has been with Metz since 2013, having joined them from Generation Foot academy in Senegal. He had two loan spells with Stade Brest, before becoming a regular at the club since 2018.
Diallo led Metz’s promotion push to Ligue 1, bagging 26 goals in the second division in the 2018/19 campaign. Having helped them get promoted, the striker once again impressed in the curtailed 2019/20 season in the top-flight, scoring 12 times in 26 outings.
Tottenham had made enquiries for the striker in the January transfer window, but a deal could not be worked out. However, the club is now intent on landing the striker. (h/t Football.london)

The striker himself as hinted that he would want to join Tottenham as well. It remains to be seen if the 25-year-old makes the move to London before the window closes.
