Napoli want £27.6m for Tottenham Hotspur target Arkadiusz Milik
According to the Evening Standard, Napoli have placed an asking price of £27.6m on Tottenham Hotspur target Arkadiusz Milik.
The 26-year-old Polish international has been with Napoli for four years since signing from Ajax Amsterdam in 2016. He has been a consistent performer and scored 14 goals in 34 appearances for the Serie-A side last season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Bringing in a new striker is key for Spurs given our lack of cover in the position. Harry Kane is the only senior striker in the squad leaving us vulnerable if he is ruled out by injury or suspension.
Also with Europa League commitments on the table, we are looking at a long and hard season. Expecting Kane to feature in every game is a recipe for disaster. With the England skipper set to lead his side in the Euros next summer, the prospect of burnout cannot be dismissed.
While Napoli are willing to sell, their asking price continues to be a point of contention. Milik has just one more year to go on his contract at the club. (h/t Evening Standard)
It was reported earlier this season that Milik is unlikely to extend his contract at Napoli. He is seeking a bigger payday and is also unhappy with having to play second-fiddle to Dries Mertens. (h/t Express)
One can argue that the signing of Victor Osimhen will have done little to ease the Polish international’s concerns. Given Kane’s injury record and the potential numbers of games we have to play this season, Milik could thrive in North London.
Spurs are familiar with the 26-year-old’s strengths having monitored him throughout last season. (h/t Express)

Spurs have been linked with a number of strikers this summer. Targets such as Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins have moved to Newcastle United and Aston Villa respectively.
With Patson Daka now set to stay on at Salzburg, both options and time are running out. Tottenham cannot afford to put all their eggs in one basket. As things stand, we risk going into yet another season with a key weakness unaddressed.
