Tottenham still interested in Bournemouth’s Joshua King
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein (h/t Football.london) Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in raiding EFL Championship side Bournemouth for the signing of Joshua King.
King has been in England since 2008, when he joined the Manchester United academy. However, having failed to make the grade at Old Trafford, the attacker moved to Blackburn where he flourished, before joining Bournemouth in 2015.
Since joining the Cherries, the 28-year-old has scored 50 goals and registered 17 assists in 170 appearances. However, the Norwegian international endured a difficult 2019/20 campaign, finding the back of the net on six occasions, while setting up four goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Tottenham were looking to sign him up and as per reports, the club had already held talks with the forward’s agent, who was in London last week. However, King claimed that he had his heart set on a transfer to former club Manchester United, dealing a blow to the North Londoners.
But, it seems like Jose Mourinho & co. haven’t given up on the forward as of yet, with David Ornstein claiming that the club is still keen on the Norwegian international. Although, he does go on to add that he is not the priority for Spurs at the moment. (h/t Football.london)
“His [King’s] value is around £15-£20m but he has quite a few suitors. I don’t know how high up he is on all of their lists. Tottenham, for instance, have him on a list but I don’t think he’s a priority at this point in time.”
A new striker being a top priority for Tottenham is a no-brainer. King, given his experience and versatility, would represent a handy purchase. However, Ornstein’s claims that he isn’t a priority for the club at the moment could mean that we could be looking at different options.

With the new season just a day away, it would have been ideal that all business was concluded by this point in time. Nevertheless, with still three weeks left before the window closes, hopefully Mourinho and Daniel Levy are able to bring in a new striker.
