Tottenham Hotspur could land Habib Diallo for a bargain £13m
According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur can land Metz striker Habib Diallo in a bargain deal worth £13m.
Signing the 25-year-old will help plug what has been a massive hole in our squad for more than a season. Moreover, the opportunity to land a prolific striker at a bargain price is in line with our transfer dealing so far this summer.
Spurs have not been immune to the effect of the coronavirus and have had to be smart this summer. The club has so far made three signings – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty, and Joe Hart.
While none of the three can be seen as world-beaters, they are solid, dependable players who can do a job in Jose Mourinho’s system. Adding Diallo to that list will round off what has been a shrewd summer in North London.
For the second consecutive season, we are set to line up on the opening day with Harry Kane as our lone senior striker. While the England skipper is a prolific scorer, he cannot be counted upon to last a whole season sans rest.
Moreover, with no backup to call on, Spurs could risk facing the same crisis they did last season. Keeping this in mind, it is easy to see why Mourinho is keen to add another forward to his squad.
Tottenham have been linked with a number of strikers this summer. This includes Watford’s Troy Deeney, Napoli ace Arkadiusz Milik and Bournemouth star Joshua King. (h/t Daily Star)
We were also keeping tabs on Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins. Unfortunately, both of them have now signed for Newcastle United and Aston Villa respectively.

At the quoted price, Diallo is a risk the club should be willing to take. He led Metz’s promotion push to Ligue 1, bagging 26 goals in the second division in the 2018/19 campaign.
Having helped them get promoted, the striker once again impressed in the 2019/20 season in the top-flight, scoring 12 times in 26 outings. A prolific scorer in his own right, Diallo would be a capable player to call upon when needed.
