Tottenham Hotspur to enter a bidding war for Bournemouth star David Brooks
According to The Express, Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a bidding war in their pursuit of Bournemouth ace David Brooks.
The 23-year-old has attracted considerable attention following the Cherries relegation to the second division. Apart from us, the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Leicester City, and Everton have all shown interest in the Welsh international. (h/t Sky Sports)
One of our biggest rivals for his signature look set to be Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on signing Jadon Sancho but have identified Brooks as an alternative to the Borussia Dortmund star. (h/t Daily Mail)
The 23-year-old only played a peripheral role last season due to an injured ankle. He was sidelined for the majority of the season, making just nine appearances throughout the campaign.
He will however not come cheap. Bournemouth have slapped a massive £50million asking price on the winger. The Cherries have seen a number of their top stars leave this summer.
Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser became the latest names to leave the Vitality stadium. They follow Nathan Ake and Aaron Ramsdale as the quartet return to the Premier League.
According to the report, Bournemouth are keen to keep hold of Brooks. An underrated player, it is often forgotten that his first season in the Premier League saw him put up statistics comparable to James Maddison.
In fact, seven goals and five assists during that season was just shy of the numbers put up by the Leicester City star made just two assists more while playing six games more.
The Foxes are also keen on Brooks with Brendan Rodgers looking to make him the club’s marquee signing of the summer.

While Brooks’ ability is not in question, his asking price might prove to be a problem. Spurs have had a frugal summer so far that has been offset by some shrewd additions.
The prospect of spending £50m on Brooks may not be something we are capable of, at least as far as this summer goes.
