Tottenham given green light to sign Willian Jose
According to Spanish publication El Desmarque (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have been given the go-ahead to make a move for Brazilian striker Willian Jose this summer.
Having started out at Barueri in Brazil, the 28-year-old had stints at Maldonado, Sao Paulo (loan), Gremio (loan), RM Castilla (loan), Real Zaragoza (loan) and UD Las Palmas (loan), before he signed for Real Sociedad on a permanent transfer in 2016.
Since joining the club, Jose has racked up 149 appearances, in which he has scored 56 goals and assisted 14 more. In the 2019/20 campaign, the 28-year-old forward managed 11 goals from 41 appearances across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Tottenham had been linked with a move for Willian Jose before and now they are set to revisit the interest, with Sociedad now willing to offload him the current transfer window. (h/t Football.london)
Tottenham are in the market for a new striker who can cover for star forward Harry Kane and provide competition for places. However, there has been little success in the club’s endeavours to bring in a new centre-forward.
But Sociedad are now willing to offload Willian Jose, even though he still has four years left on his contract with the club. And, Tottenham can pounce on the opportunity to land the Brazilian. (h/t Football.london)

Willian Jose might not be the biggest superstar around. However, he has plenty of experience in the Spanish top-flight. Moreover, his £54,000-a-week wages make him an affordable target for Tottenham.
With four competitions to compete in, squad depth will be of paramount importance. And bringing in an experienced forward like Willian Jose could serve us well in the 2020/21 term.
