Leon Bailey keen on Premier League transfer, with Tottenham interested
According to Sky Sports, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jamaican winger Leon Bailey is keen on securing a transfer to the Premier League this summer and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing him.
The 23-year-old Bailey started out at Phoenix All Stars Jamaica, before earning a move to Austrian outfit USK Anif in 2011. He had a stint in Slovakia with AS Trencin, before signing for Belgian outfit KRC Genk, where he announced himself as a star in the making.
On the back of a series of impressive displays, Bailey earned a switch to German giants Bayer Leverkusen, where he has continued to enhance his reputation. The 23-year-old has racked up 24 goals and 15 assists in 116 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit till date.
The 2019/20 campaign wasn’t Bailey’s best though, as he had troubles with injury. He ended the campaign with seven goals and three assists from 33 appearances across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Bailey has made his desires of moving to the Premier League known since July. And there has been tentative interest from Tottenham Hotspur in securing the 23-year-old’s services. (h/t Sky Sports)
After a dour start to the 2020/21 campaign against Everton, Tottenham could do with a player of Bailey’s ilk, who can add that element of ingenuity and flair in the final third. However, as per the report, the 23-year-old is likely to cost around £40m, which might deter the club from making a move.

The Jamaican international still has three years left on his contract, which will put Leverkusen in a strong negotiating position. In addition, Bailey is attracting interest from Spurs’ PL rivals Everton as well. So, a move to Tottenham for the 23-year-old this summer may be unlikely.
