Tottenham join race to sign Marash Kumbulla
According to Italian publication L’Arena (h/t The Sun), Tottenham Hotspur have joined arch rivals Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Marash Kumbulla from Hellas Verona.
The 20-year-old Kumbulla came through the youth ranks at Hellas Verona and made his senior debut in 2018. However, it wasn’t until the 2019/20 campaign that he became a regular in the starting XI.
Despite struggling with injuries, the Albanian centre-back featured 25 times in his debut Serie A campaign as Verona finished in an impressive ninth place after having earned promotion.
Naturally, his impressive performances have put the 20-year-old on the radars of a number of clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United. And now, Tottenham Hotspur have also joined the hunt for Kumbulla. (h/t The Sun)
Tottenham are in the market for another centre-back having lost Jan Vertonghen at the end of the last season. In our dismal 1-0 defeat to Everton this past weekend, Toby Alderweireld started alongside Eric Dier at the heart of the defence, with Davinson Sanchez on the bench.
However, none of them were consistent enough over the course of the last season and didn’t look all too convincing on Sunday either. So, bringing in another defender would certainly be a step in the right direction for the club.
Kumbulla, to that end, can be a handy signing. However, there is intense competition for the 20-year-old’s signing with Inter Milan and Lazio also keen, apart from Chelsea and United. (h/t The Sun)

A new striker and another centre-back need to be on the club’s priority list. However, Tottenham will need to sell before bringing in another defender, with Juan Foyth likely to be sold. (h/t The Sun)
