Son Heung-min wants Tottenham to sign Kim Min-jae
According to a report from 90min.com (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min is urging the club to make a move for compatriot and Beijing Guoan defender Kim Min-jae.
The 23-year-old Kim has been with the Chinese outfit since January last year, having joined from Jeonbuk Motors. And, he has grown into a key member of the team.
In 108 senior career appearances across all his clubs, Kim has scored three goals and assisted one more. In the current season, he has featured eight times for the Chinese Super League club.
Tottenham’s interest in the South Korean international came to light in June. Reports claimed that the club was confident of closing the deal for the 23-year-old as negotiations were held between the two clubs. However, not much progress has been made on the deal.
However, as per the report, Son is now pushing for Tottenham to sign the 23-year-old defender. It is also claimed that Kim himself is keen on joining Spurs in order to link up with his national team captain. (h/t Football.london)
Tottenham are in need of defensive reinforcements after having struggled at the back last season. The club has strengthened the right-back slot with the signing of Matt Doherty. However, a new centre-back is also a necessary addition, given that we lost Jan Vertonghen at the end of the last season.

And Kim Min-jae, who is nicknamed the ‘Monster’ because of his physical frame, can be a good signing for the club. Agreed that he doesn’t have any experience in European football, but the 23-year-old has the attributes needed to succeed at the club.
