Jose Mourinho provides update on Giovani Lo Celso fitness ahead of Europa League clash
As reported by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he will have Giovani Lo Celso back for selection for the club’s Europa League game against Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
Tottenham travel to Bulgaria to face off against Plovdiv in the second round of the Europa League qualifiers, just three days after the opening day defeat to Everton in the Premier League.
Against the Toffees, the lack of creativity on the field was a major issue for Mourinho & co. However, Lo Celso’s return into the fold should help address that problem to a large extent on Thursday.
Lo Celso had not taken part in any of Tottenham’s pre-season friendlies prior to the beginning of the new season. But, he was seen participating in the first-team training prior to Mourinho’s press conference on Wednesday.
However, Jose has revealed that right-back Serge Aurier might miss out due to a knock he picked up in training, while Japhet Tanganga remains sidelined as well. (h/t Football.london)
“Gio is back. Nothing from the game just Serge Aurier a little knock in training. Apart from Tanganaga, who we know will take a few weeks to be back.”
Given that the Europa League qualifiers will be decided just over one leg, no slip-ups can be afforded on Thursday.

At the same time, Jose will also have an eye on the weekend Premier League clash against Southampton, given that we are yet to open our account in the league this term. So, it will be very important as to how the manager decides to rotate his troops against the Bulgarian outfit this midweek.
