Tottenham Hotspur considering Wout Weghorst move
According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur will consider making a swoop for VfL Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst in their bid to bolster their attacking unit this summer.
At this point, it is public knowledge that Tottenham are in the market for a new striker and understandably so. Jose Mourinho has just Harry Kane as his striking option currently, having allowed youngster Troy Parrott leave on loan.
While Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn can play through the middle, neither are natural centre-forwards. And going through the entire season with just one out-and-out striker would be a recipe for disaster.
A number of forwards such as Habib Diallo, Bas Dost and Alexander Sorloth have been on the club’s radar. And now, Tottenham are also considering Wolfsburg’s Wout Weghorst as a target as well. (h/t The Athletic)
The 28-year-old came through the youth ranks at Dutch club DETO and had spells at Willem II, FC Emmen, Heracles Almelo before he joined AZ Alkmaar in 2016. In 86 appearances for the club over two years, he scored 45 goals, before signing for Wolfsburg in 2018.
Since joining the Bundesliga outfit, the Netherlands forward has continued to score at an impressive rate. Last season saw Weghorst bag an impressive 20 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions, while setting up five more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The 28-year-old may not be the most high-profile name in football. But, over the past few years, he has been delivering the goods at AZ and Wolfsburg. He has a lot of experience at the top level and can prove to be a viable backup for Harry Kane.
However, it remains to be seen if there is a move made by the club for the Dutchman.
