Tottenham Hotspur hope to see Danny Rose join Genoa

According to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Tottenham Hotspur are pushing for Danny Rose to join Genoa.

The Englishman spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United. He appears to have no future at the club and is currently in the final year of his contract.

Moreover, Sheth believes Spurs have their intentions clear by not even giving the 30-year-old a squad number.

With the prospect of losing him on a free next summer, Spurs are keen to ensure the deal with Genoa goes through. Both clubs are currently in talks but the player’s wages have proven to be a sticking point.

While Tottenham would prefer to sell him outright, they are also willing to let him go on a season-long loan. (h/t Sky Sports)

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho too has given his blessings for Rose to join the Serie-A side. He believes the defender will be a perfect fit for the Italians.

Ben Davies is the current first-choice left-back at the club. With Sergio Reguilon en route, it remains to be seen whether there will be any change in the pecking order.

Meanwhile, Ryan Sessegnon who can play anywhere along the left flank could leave the club on loan. Injuries and poor form stunted the 20-year-old’s development last season.

With both Bale and Reguilon set to join the club, Sessegnon could find games hard to come by. Joining another club where he can play regularly should help him rediscover his mojo.

It is clear that Rose has no future at Spurs. A move to Genoa would be best for all parties. A chance to play regularly will also give him a chance of making it to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for next summer’s Euros.
