Jose Mourinho praises Tanguy Ndombele following Europa League heroics
As reported by the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on midfielder Tanguy Ndombele after his match-winner against Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
The 23-year-old came under fire for his lack of performances on the field. The Spurs boss admits that he had doubts regarding his star’s attitude but admitted that belief has now been restored. (h/t Daily Mail)
“In this moment I believe in him.”
Spurs looked to be on their way to an upset after Plovdiv opened the scoring in the UEFA Europa League second round qualifiers. Harry Kane got us on level terms in the 80th minute before Ndombele scored with five minutes left.
Mourinho’s comments augur well for the future of a player Spurs broke the bank to sign last summer.
The Portuguese tactician publicly expressed his displeasure at Ndombele’s fitness and attitude last season. It would now appear that Mourinho’s had a change of heart. He also went on to add that the Frenchman has been training well as he recovers from injury. (h/t Daily Mail)
“In this moment he’s training very, very well. He’s recovering from his injury, he’s recovering physically and today he gave us what we needed in this last 30 minutes.”
A tough taskmaster, Mourinho’s positive comments are a testament to the progress shown by Ndombele. With a goal already under his belt, he can now use the confidence to have a successful season.
