Tottenham Hotspur retain the option of extending Gareth Bale loan by another year
According to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur can extend the loan deal for Gareth Bale by another year.
The 31-year-old will complete his switch to Spurs today, seven years after leaving for Real Madrid. Initially joining on a one-year loan, Spurs can extend his stay for the 2021/22 season. (h/t Football.london)
Success on the pitch will play a determining factor in whether the club decides to make use of the extension. If he performs anywhere close to what he did in his first spell, there is no reason for us to send him back.
Extending Bale’s loan into the second year up to 2022 will take him to the end of his current Real Madrid contract. That could see Real lose him on a free. With the relationship between the player and the club in the doldrums, it would not be a surprise to see both sides happy at the outcome.
As per the report, Tottenham will pay 40 percent of Bale’s wages with Real picking up the remaining 60 percent.
Daniel Levy has repeatedly inquired about bringing back the 31-year-old to the club where he made his name. His massive wages worth £600,000-a-week consistently proved to be a sticking point. With Real now footing the majority of the amount, Spurs have done well to seize the opportunity. (h/t Football.london)
The signing is a win for Jose Mourinho, who has been a fan of the player. The Portuguese tactician attempted to sign Bale while at Manchester United and earlier at Real. It has proved third time lucky for Mourinho as he has finally got his man at the third attempt. (h/t Football.london)
