AC Milan in talks with Tottenham Hotspur for Serge Aurier

According to RMC Sport (h/t Football.london), AC Milan are still in talks with Tottenham Hotspur for Serge Aurier.

The 27-year-old joined Spurs in the summer of 2017 from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth £23m. However, he only became a regular feature at right-back in 2019 after the departure of Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid.

A player capable of both the ridiculous and the sublime, Aurier is anything but a reliable player at the back.

The Ivorian has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Matt Doherty from Wolves. In fact, he has made just one appearance so far this season.

It came during our midweek clash against Shkendija in the Europa League. While the player was out on the pitch, Milan were in talks with Spurs officials on the same day.

According to an earlier report, Tottenham ware willing to accept offers around the £17m mark.

It has been an impressive summer at Spurs that has seen them sign five players so far. With a striker still on the agenda, selling off Aurier will boost Jose Mourinho’s transfer kitty.

Apart from Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Spartak Moscow were also keen on Aurier. The Ivorian has however rejected the chance to join the latter.

While interest from Leverkusen appears to have gone cold, Milan are still in the fray. With just over a week to go before the window closes, it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed upon.
