Torino in talks to sign Tottenham target Joshua King
According to Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Serie A outfit Torino are in talks to sign AFC Bournemouth forward Joshua King, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old joined Bournemouth in 2015 after a relatively successful stint with Blackburn Rovers. Till date, the Norwegian international has scored 50 goals and registered 17 assists in 171 appearances for the Cherries. However, he struggled during the 2019/20 campaign, scoring just six goals, while setting up four more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
In spite of his disappointing returns in the 2019/20 season, Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for King all throughout the summer. His versatility, coupled with the fact that Spurs can sign him post the October 5 transfer deadline due to EFL rules make him an attractive prospect. (h/t The Telegraph)
However, Tottenham risk being left behind in the race for the former Manchester United academy ace. This is because, Serie A outfit Torino have made a surprise move to land the Norwegian forward. The Italians have already entered into negotiations with Bournemouth over the possibility of a summer switch. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)
Bringing in a new striker is imperative for Jose Mourinho & co. if we are to get through the packed schedule in the 2020/21 season unscathed. Going through the campaign with only Harry Kane as the option for the centre-forward position would be a recipe for disaster.
And King, given his ability to play in multiple positions in the final third, would have made a handy addition to the ranks.
