Celtic enter race to sign Tottenham starlet Ryan Sessegnon
According to Glasgow Times, Scottish champions Celtic have now joined a number of Premier League clubs in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ryan Sessegnon on loan.
The 20-year-old joined the club from Fulham last year in a deal worth £25m. However, the young Englishman endured a difficult debut campaign in London.
Injuries hampered his progress a great deal, while opportunities weren’t exactly forthcoming under Jose Mourinho even when he was fit. Sessegnon finished the 2019/20 campaign with just 12 appearances in all competitions, scoring and assisting a solitary goal apiece.
Heading into the new season, there had been expectations that the youngster would be more involved in the scheme of things. However, Sessegnon is yet to make a single appearance this season. In fact the versatile left-back has made the matchday squad just once so far.
With Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale arriving, he has dropped further down the pecking order. And as a result, the club has decided to send him out on loan for the season. (h/t Football.london)
This has seen Sessegnon attract a lot of interest, with Scottish champions Celtic now emerging as his latest suitors.
The Hoops’ boss Neil Lennon is keen to add more depth on the left-side, with Boli Bolingoli leaving the club while Mikey Johnston is out injured. And they believe that they can convince the 20-year-old to move to the Celtic Park before Monday’s transfer deadline. (h/t Scottish Sun)
