Hoffenheim eye late loan swoop for Ryan Sessegnon

As per Sky Germany via InsideFutbol (h/t Football.london), TSG Hoffenheim have entered the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ryan Sessegnon on loan for the rest of the 2020/21 season.

The 20-year-old Sessegnon joined Tottenham from fellow London club Fulham last summer. However, the versatile left-back endured an injury-riddled debut campaign with the Lilywhites.

With Jose Mourinho also not showing enough faith in the youngster, Sessegnon ended the campaign with just 12 appearances across all competitions. And the 20-year-old is yet to make a single appearance in the new season. In fact, he has been part of the matchday squad on just one occasion.

Furthermore, with the additions of Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale, the 20-year-old’s opportunities at left-back and in an attacking role have taken a further hit. Thus, loaning him out would be the right step in order to help him continue his development.

A number of clubs like Celtic, Brighton & Hove Albion and Hertha Berlin have all expressed an interest in taking the 20-year-old on loan for the season. And the latest addition to that list is TSG Hoffenheim. (h/t Football.london)

It is all but certain that Sessegnon will be on his way out of the club, albeit temporarily this summer. With the transfer deadline day fast approaching, it remains to be seen where the youngster ends up.

As far as incomings are concerned, Tottenham are set to sign Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica as backup for Harry Kane. However, bringing in a centre-back would be the cherry on top of what has been a very good transfer window so far.
