Tottenham eyeing a move for Juventus defender Merih Demiral
According to a report from Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur are looking at Juventus star Merih Demiral as an option to bolster their defence in the current transfer window.

Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar is the priority target for Tottenham Hotspur heading into the final few days of the transfer window. However, given the difference in valuation between the two clubs, a deal looks difficult at the moment. And, the club is keeping their options open if they miss out on Skriniar. (h/t Football.london)
And Juventus’ Merih Demiral is one such option that the club is considering to make a move for. The 22-year-old started out at Turkish giants Fenerbahce and had stints at Sporting Lisbon, Alanyaspor and Sassuolo before joining Juventus last summer.
However, the Turkish international endured a difficult debut season in Turin, owing to a cruciate ligament knee injury. Having been restricted to just eight appearances in 2019/20, Demiral played just seven minutes in Juve’s 2020/21 season opener.
Given his lack of opportunities in Italy, Demiral has been linked with a switch to Premier League in the past. And, Tottenham have emerged as a potential suitor for the 22-year-old centre-back. (h/t Football.london)

With Jan Vertonghen leaving the club at the end of the last season, there is a vacancy in the squad that needs to be filled. Besides, Davinson Sanchez hasn’t always looked convincing either. So, bringing in a new defender before the window closes would be the right move.
However, Demiral’s recent injury history makes him somewhat of a wildcard. But given his age and potential, the 22-year-old can prove to be an asset in the long run.
