FC Porto eyeing swoop for Tottenham outcast Danny Rose
According to Ed Aarons of The Guardian, FC Porto are eyeing a swoop for out of favour Tottenham Hotspur star Danny Rose late on the transfer deadline day.
Rose joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2007. A two-time PFA Team of the Year nominee, he has made 214 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and 29 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
However, over the past couple of years, his stock has been on the decline, with Ben Davies usurping him as the first-choice left-back at the club.
The Englishman completely fell out of favour with new manager Jose Mourinho once he took over last November. And, as a result, he spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Newcastle United. Back at the club, Rose continues to be a persona non-grata, with the left-back not even being a squad number for this term.
It has been claimed that Jose Mourinho is trying to move him out desperately for quite some time now. There had been reports of a potential transfer to Serie A side Genoa, but nothing materialised on that front.
However, the 30-year-old could be offered an escape route late on the deadline day as FC Porto are now lining up a swoop for the defender. The Portuguese giants are on the lookout for a replacement for Alex Telles, who is set to join Manchester United. And Rose has emerged as a potential target for the club. (h/t Ed Aarons)
