Tottenham eyeing late swoop for Swansea City defender Joe Rodon
According to BBC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur could be set to launch a late bid to sign 22-year-old Welsh defender Joe Rodon from EFL Championship outfit Swansea City.
Rodon is a product of the Swans’ youth academy. After a loan spell at Cheltenham Town, the 22-year-old centre-back broke into the senior team back in 2018. Over the past year, the defender has become a regular at the heart of the Welsh outfit’s backline.
Till date, Rodon has racked up 54 appearances for Swansea City, contributing with a solitary assist.
Tottenham are in the market for a new centre-back after having lost Jan Vertonghen at the end of the last season. The club also allowed Juan Foyth to join Villarreal on loan, thus warranting a new centre-back addition to bolster the ranks. (h/t BBC)
The Lilywhites had been targeting Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan for a while now. However, a move for the Slovakian international is off. In addition, another of Tottenham’s targets, Antonio Rudiger, is also not going to join, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
This has seemingly forced Tottenham look at other options, with Rodon emerging as a target. As per the BBC report, Swansea are expecting Spurs to launch a bid for the 22-year-old. And the club will sanction a sale if the offer is in the range of £18-20m.

A talented young defender with great potential, Rodon can prove to be a shrewd investment for the club. Furthermore, with rules allowing transfers between the Premier League and EFL clubs till October 16, there will be time to work out a deal as well.
It has been a top transfer window for Spurs so far. A new central defender would make it a perfect one. It will be interesting to see if there’s any development on this front in the coming hours.
