Gareth Bale could be the difference maker as Tottenham Hotspur pursue Joe Rodon
According to The Daily Star, Gareth Bale could play a major role in Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Joe Rodon.
The 22-year-old is seen as a priority by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho as he looks to cap off what has been a brilliant summer of recruitment. Spurs also face competition for the defender from Manchester United and West Ham United.
However, we have the edge over the Hammers and the Red Devils due to the presence of both Bale and Ben Davies. The Welsh duo is familiar with the defender’s abilities, having played with him at the international level for the Dragons.
Rodon is keen to play with his international teammates and appears to be open to a switch to North London. He could cost the club around £18million.
The Welshman has two years left on his contract with the Swans. He is keen to play top-flight football and Spurs can grant him just that.
Talks with the Welsh club are ongoing. Premier League clubs can conduct business with lower league teams until October 16.
It was earlier reported that Tottenham could offer a player-plus-cash deal to land Rodon. This would have seen Cameron Carter-Vickers return to the club where he previously spent the 2018/19 season on loan.

Bale may not have taken to the field yet on his second coming to the club. But he seems to deliver off the pitch. The winger could play a decisive part in strengthening us at the back, provided we sign Rodon.
