Jose Mourinho confident that Joe Rodon will sign with Tottenham Hotspur
According to Football Insider (h/t The Express), Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is confident of securing Joe Rodon before the domestic transfer window closes this Friday.
The 22-year-old has emerged as a target for Spurs after they missed out on both Milan Skriniar and Antonio Rudiger. Rodon has emerged as a key player for Swansea City and is among the best centre-backs in the English second division.
Spurs had opened negotiations for the player before the international transfer window last week. Mourinho was keen to add the young Welshman to his Europa League squad.
According to the report, a Spurs bid of £7m was rejected by Swansea. The Welsh outfit is hoping to receive at least £15m for Rodon’s services.
Spurs remain confident an agreement can be reached upon before the window closes. Bringing in Rodon will be the perfect end to what has been a brilliant summer.
Extensive talks have been held in recent days for the Wales international. Spurs have proposed multiple ways of agreeing on a deal. This includes a cash bid, a player-plus-cash move, or a deal that would include a loan move back to the Liberty Stadium.
Rodon has just two years left on his Swansea contract. Hopefully, Spurs can present a deal that can be agreed upon before the window closes.
