Tottenham star missed England’s clash vs Denmark due to ‘slight hamstring injury’

Ben Davies and Eric Dier make the Tottenham predicted lineup vs Newcastle United.

Why Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier missed England’s clash vs Denmark

Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier missed out entirely as England took on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League clash against Denmark.

It will come as a source of frustration for Jose Mourinho given the importance of the player to the North Londoners.

According to Sky Sports, Dier suffered a ‘slight hamstring injury’ in England’s 2-1 win over Belgium last week. He was subsequently not included in the 23-man squad to face the Danes.

While the wording in the article hints at a minor injury, given our busy schedule, the club have every right to be wary. Having lost Jan Vertonghen at the end of last season, Dier has stepped into defence and has filled the gap left by the Belgian’s departure.

The 26-year-old has already played six games for Tottenham this season, including all of our Premier League games so far. This shows the importance he has in Mourinho’s plans.

It has been a frustrating international break for Spurs. Apart from Dier, Harry Kane and Sergio Reguilon also suffered slight knocks.

Thankfully, both players returned to action for their countries since. While it would have been better had they been rested, the fact that they took to the field is heartening.

Spurs take on West Ham United in the London derby this weekend. Coming off what has fine a ruthless run, anything less than three points should be considered a loss.
