Tottenham Hotspur eye Luis Campos who is ready to quit Lille
According to the Daily Record, Lille DOF Luis Campos who was earlier linked with Tottenham Hotspur is keen to leave the French giants.
Campos has asked Lille owner Gerard Lopez to be released from his contract as head of recruitment for the French side. As per Football.london, Spurs are now ready to lure the impressive administrator to North London.
His decision to leave is due to a series of disagreements over the club’s summer transfer business. Campos is considered to be one of the most effective sports directors in European football. He has helped raise over €1.5billion in player sales across seven years in the French top division.
The coronavirus pandemic has showcased the need for clubs to be smart and efficient in their recruitment. Keeping this in mind, we could face competition to land the legendary recruiter.
According to the report, AS Roma have already offered the 56-year-old a position at the club. In the last few years at Lille, Campos has brought in over €350million in transfer fees. He also oversaw a rebuild that saw the relegation contenders rise up to finish second behind PSG last season.
He shares a close relationship with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho. The duo had earlier worked together at Real Madrid. A move to North London would have been akin to a reunion of friends who could take Spurs to the next level.
