“You’re not going to see him” – Mourinho offers a clear picture on Tottenham veteran’s future

Danny Rose has played his last game for Tottenham Hotspur

According to Football Insider (h/t The Express), former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Michael Brown believe Danny Rose has played his last game for the club.

The English international is out of contract next summer and is out of favour at the club. The left-back was left out of Mourinho’s 25-man squad for the Premier League and was also axed from the club’s Europa League squad.

Rose spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle United. He looked to be on his way out of the club but there were no suitable offers forthcoming.

While he is still at the club, Mourinho does not appear to favour using him. Brown believes that is unlikely to change.

With Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies at the club, Spurs had the luxury to exclude Rose from their domestic and Europan squads. In fact, it can be argued that we would not be missing out on much by doing so.

He has after all played a peripheral role in recent months. The club if anything is now stronger in the position than we have been in the recent past.

“It just looks like you’re not going to see him in a Spurs shirt again unless something drastically changes.”

Brown also questioned if Rose continues to train with the first-team. Where there is a lack of clarity in the topic, it is an interesting query given his predicament.

“It’ll be interesting to see if he’s actually still training and who he’s training with.”

Rose too is partly responsible for his own situation. A loss in form combined with a falling out with Mourinho last November did little to improve matters. In fact, the 30-year-old last featured for Spurs in our 1-0 loss at home to Liverpool on January 11.

It would appear that Spurs will not miss much once the defender parts ways. It is a shame that such a long-serving player’s career is coming to such an unceremonious end at the club.
