Gareth Bale will need time to get back to his devastating best at Tottenham Hotspur
According to The Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has asked for patience while he gets back to his best.
The Welshman returned to the club after seven years at Spanish giants Real Madrid. While his time in Spain was trophy-laden, he has enjoyed a difficult last couple of years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“It’s going to take me a bit of time to get my match fitness and sharpness going.”
Having signed as a teenager for Spurs back in 2007, he developed into one of the finest footballers in the world. While there is much excitement regarding his return, he believes he currently lacks the match fitness to contribute to his fullest.
Having spent last season largely off the pitch, the player is happy to once again get back onto the field. Bale has so far made two appearances for Spurs since returning, one from the start.
“It’s another game towards the process of getting fitter, sharper, quicker. I just enjoyed being out there playing football – that’s what makes me happy.”
During these games, he has been far from his best. However, he showed enough to trouble opposition defences and even grabbed an assist in the 3-0 win over LASK.
Bale is also impressed with the talent around him currently at the club. He believes Tottenham have what it takes to compete on all fronts.
With a proven manager like Jose Mourinho now at the helm, Tottenham have the resources to take advantage of what has been a largely unpredictable Premier League season.

With the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United struggling, Chelsea still adapting and Liverpool hit by key injuries, Spurs could make a beeline for the title.
In Mourinho, we have the ultimate party pooper. If anyone can take advantage of the situation, it is the Portuguese. It would make for incredible scenes if Bale is the player who scores the goal that leads us to a trophy this season.
