Giovani Lo Celso hasn’t featured regularly for Tottenham this season
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has shared his thoughts on why Giovani Lo Celso isn’t featuring for the club this season.
The Argentine had become a fixture in the side during the back-end of last season under Jose Mourinho.
However, things are a little different now. Lo Celso only has one Premier League start to his name while he has featured in our Europa League outings.
Sherwood was speaking to Sky Sports and claimed the South American can’t get into the side because Mourinho wants to play a certain way (h/t Express):
“He cannot get a kick of the football, at the moment because Jose doesn’t want to play that way.
“He’s relying on the front three to win him the game and the rest of the players behind have to be responsible and defensive.”
Sherwood also spoke about Mourinho suggesting that Spurs are playing free-flowing football. However, he didn’t believe that but backed Spurs to bang in the goals.
Don’t change when it is working
Spurs have found some magic in the attack with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min scoring goals for fun. We might still be a little short at the back but a good attack should lead to more wins than losses for the side.
Lo Celso isn’t in Mourinho’s plans at the moment but that could change once our fixture list affects the other players. The 24-year-old Argentine needs to be patient as his time will come.
Mourinho seems to have found the right formula and there is no point in making any changes at the moment. Lo Celso has played for the Argentine national side and it will be interesting to see how we do in the coming weeks.

We aren’t all that far away from the top of the table and if we consistently pick up the points, we should be in the top four come the end of the campaign.
