Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld believes he still has much to offer the club

Speaking to Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld believes he still has much to offer at the club.

The Belgian joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in 2014. Having spent a season on loan at Southampton, the defender was already up to speed with the demands of the league.

Alderweireld has since made 2017 appearances for the club. He has scored sight goals and assisted five during that time. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The Belgian international penned fresh terms at the club last December. With three more years to go at the club, he is set to play out his best days for us.

At 31, he is nearing the latter stages of his career. He is yet to make a decision on his future and believes he has a significant role to play at the club.

“I still have more than two years left [Spurs contract], a long time, and a lot to give to Spurs.”

Despite being Belgian, the defender has spent the vast majority of his career abroad. He spent five years of his youth at Germinal Beerschot before moving to Ajax Amsterdam.

Having spent 17 years away from his homeland, it is natural that he would be homesick. Despite that, he is yet to make a decision as to where he will end up once his time at Spurs comes to a close.

“I am so happy at Spurs so it’s difficult to see the future and what it’s going to bring.”

Alderweireld has been a loyal and excellent servant to the club for a number of years now. Alongside national teammate Jan Vertonghen, he formed the core of a formidable Belgian defensive unit for us.

Having committed his best years to us, he will eventually bid goodbye to the club nothing short of being a hero. Whenever that may be.
