Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham to do better at home
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has called for the club to improve their home form this season.
The Portuguese tactician believes doing so would give us a massive boost in our bid to challenge for the Premier League title. Despite being seventh in the Premier League table, Spurs are yet to win at home this season.
“We are magnificent away from home.”
Our first two home fixtures were against Newcastle United and West Ham United. We should have won both games.
While a stoppage-time penalty denied us all three points in the former, an astounding comeback by the Hammers saw us throw away a three-goal lead.
As Liverpool and Manchester City have shown over the last two seasons, every point matters. We cannot afford to throw away anything, especially at home. Had we won those two games, we would now have been at the top of the table.
“But at home we have lost too many points, and with these points, we would be there [Premier League leaders].”
Unlike at home, Spurs have been brilliant away from North London. Apart from the opening day loss to Everton, we have won our three away Premier League games since. During that time, we have scored 12 goals, conceding just three.
Mourinho was particularly happy with the three points from our most recent away trip to Turf Moor. Despite not being at our best, the players showed enough guile and fortitude to come away with maximum points.
Winning while not playing well is a sign of champions. Hopefully, Spurs will continue to do so.
