Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane backed to break Thierry Henry’s incredible assist tally
Speaking to Daily Mail, former Arsenal star Martin Keown has backed Tottenham Hotspur ace, Harry Kane, to break the record for most Premier League assists in a season.
The record that stands at 20 is jointly held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Manchester City maestro Kevin De Bruyne.
“Kane would obliterate the Premier League record of 20, shared by Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.”
The English skipper has shown this season that there is more to his game than just scoring goals. He has also evolved into a creator and the impact is being felt in the team’s success.
The 27-year-old has eight assists for the campaign in just six games for Spurs. He has also bettered his previous best of seven assists in 2016/17.
With 32 more games to go, Kane needs just 14 more assists to equal Henry and De Bruyne. It is fair to say that at this rate, he wouldn’t just break the record but add to it considerably.
Keown has also gone on to compare the Spurs ace to Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp. The Dutch ace was a stellar performer on his day and Kane is in elite company.
‘The quality of the balls I’m seeing from the Spurs striker, and the way he is finding Son Heung-min, it is Bergkampian.”
Kane has built up a solid partnership with Son Heung-Min this season. The duo has been scoring and assisting for fun against hapless opposition defences. With the likes of Gareth Bale yet to hit the stride, Kane could be in line to rack up some incredible numbers.
