Fans react as Harry Winks gets selected for England national team
The England national team squad for the November fixtures against the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland was announced on Thursday, with three Tottenham players – Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Harry Winks getting selected. (h/t SpursOfficial)
The selection of Kane and Dier doesn’t come as a surprise, considering that the former has been in scintillating form since the onset of the new season while the latter too has put in a fine shift at the heart of the defence.
However, the fact that Harry Winks also got picked, in spite of having hardly played for the club recently, has raised a few eyebrows, even among the Tottenham fanbase.
The 24-year-old has featured just once in Spurs’ four Premier League matches since October, that too coming on as a substitute against West Ham United. The midfielder did start in the UEFA Europa League clash against Royal Antwerp but was quite poor on the night as Tottenham ended up losing.

Nevertheless, England manager Gareth Southgate has decided to back the 24-year-old, selecting him in the squad. And some Tottenham fans took to Twitter to react to this selection.
