Martin Keown critical of Jose Mourinho over Dela Alli treatment

Speaking on talkSPORT, as relayed by Football.london, former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has lashed out at Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho for his treatment of out-of-favour star Dele Alli.

The 24-year-old Alli finds himself on the fringes of the first-team at Tottenham this season, with Mourinho hardly using him up until now. Indeed, Alli has started just three matches in all competitions so far and was taken off at half-time on two of those occasions.

And Keown has taken an exception to the way the former MK Dons man has been treated, particularly criticising Mourinho for his social media posts after the defeat to Royal Antwerp in the UEFA Europa League. (h/t Football.london)

“I don’t like the way that Dele Alli has been treated and the tweets that have been made public. I don’t like where he [Mourinho] has taken photographs of himself, saying: ‘Look at me, I’m upset. I hope the players are upset too’. Dele Alli, I think, could be shown a little bit more respect.”

With game time not coming his way, Alli’s future has become a subject of intense transfer speculation. PSG had tried to sign Alli on loan in the summer transfer window. However, Les Parisiens had as many as three loan bids rejected for the former MK Dons midfielder. (h/t Daily Mail)

There’s not a lot of time left for the January transfer window to open. However, given the fixture pile-up leading up to that, there could still be a chance for Alli to work his way back into Jose’s plans.
