Pep Guardiola hits back at Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho
As reported by the Guardian, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has lashed out at his Tottenham counterpart Jose Mourinho after the latter’s jibe over Raheem Sterling earlier this week.
Tottenham face Manchester City later today in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. On the eve of the game, Mourinho questioned England manager Gareth Southgate’s decision to release Raheem Sterling from the squad, citing a calf injury. (h/t Guardian)
The Portuguese, however, claimed that the Manchester City winger will feature against his side on Saturday, therefore questioning the legitimacy of the injury. (h/t Guardian)
Responding to Mourinho’s comments, Guardiola has hit out at his rival, insisting that the Portuguese speak to the doctors of the England national team and Manchester City. (h/t Guardian)
“He has to go to the doctors of the national team and Manchester City. Except maybe Mourinho is a doctor, I don’t know. Listen, I’m not going to answer anything about José. I said the doctor because he accused us of something we have done that is not true.”
This is the latest episode in what has been a fierce rivalry between Mourinho and Guardiola, even though the feud seemed to have cooled down in recent years.
