Gary Neville compares Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane to Zinedine Zidane
Speaking on Sky Sports (h/t Football.london), Gary Neville has been left impressed by Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane after the 2-0 win over Manchester City.
The Spurs striker has left such an impression on the former Manchester United star that he has now been compared to French legend Zinedine Zidane. (h/t Football.london)
“I’m gonna get mocked for saying this, but there’s a little bit of Zidane in him.”
Kane has showcased his creative side this season by making a flurry of assists. He went on to set up Giovani Lo Celso for our second goal last night with a well-weighted pass.
The assist was Kane’s 11th of the season. The striker has grown adept at holding up the ball and also dropping deeper to make space for the players around him. (h/t Football.london)
“Yeah, it’s the physicality, the touch in the way he gets the ball, protects it and shields it. No-one can get near him.”
The fact that the England skipper can not just restructure his playing style but also perform against the likes of Manchester City is a testament to his ability.
While comparisons to Zidane may be a little far-fetched, there is no doubt of what Kane brings to the Spurs squad. Neville believes this is the best he has seen the striker play since he destroyed Liverpool back in 2017. (h/t Football.london)
Capable of playing as an out and out number nine while also being able to drop deep ensures both Jose Mourinho and Gareth Southgate can deploy Kane in a variety of setups.

One aspect we would like to see Kane match Zidane in is the number of trophies he has won as a player. Under Mourinho, Spurs appear to have turned a corner and can be considered to be genuine contenders.
Hopefully, Kane’s efforts will be rewarded with a trophy this season.
