Jose Mourinho keen on signing Olivier Giroud from Chelsea

According to a report from The Boy Hotspur, as cited by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is interested in raiding former club Chelsea for the signing of Olivier Giroud.

The 34-year-old Giroud has been with Chelsea since January 2018, having joined from our arch-rivals Arsenal. While the Frenchman has never been a regular starter at Stamford Bridge, he has proven to be a very useful squad player for the Blues over the years.

However, following the arrival of Timo Werner in the summer, Giroud has fallen further down the pecking order at the club and is inching for a January exit with his place in the France squad for the Euros at stake. (h/t Football.london)

And now, it is being claimed that Tottenham boss Mourinho is eyeing a swoop for the 2018 FIFA World Cup-winning centre-forward.

Tottenham strengthened the centre-forward department in the summer with the signing of Carlos Vinicius on a season-long loan deal from SL Benfica. However, the Brazilian is being eased into action by the manager, meaning we haven’t gotten to see the best of him as of yet.

And considering how thick and fast the games are coming across all competitions, it wouldn’t be the worst idea for us to bring in another striker in the January transfer window. Giroud may not be the most attractive option, but he would certainly fit the bill considering his experience at the topmost level.

However, it is very much unlikely that Giroud would trade being a third-choice striker at Chelsea to assuming the same state at Tottenham Hotspur.
