Frank Lampard sympathises with Jose Mourinho over fixture scheduling
As reported by the Daily Mail, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has sympathised with Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho over the tight fixture schedules that the club is facing.
Tottenham have been handed a raw deal with the fixtures as we are scheduled to take on Ludogorets in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night before we face off against Lampard’s Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
The derby will be a huge contest as Chelsea are just a couple of points and places behind us in the league standings. And having little to no rest heading into that game can be a problem for Jose Mourinho & co.
On the contrary, Chelsea will play Rennes in the UEFA Champions League later tonight, meaning they will have two extra days of rest heading into the crunch clash at the weekend.
When asked if he sympathised with his former mentor over the schedule, Lampard admitted that the situation was far from ideal but added that he expected Mourinho to come out all guns blazing for the derby. (h/t Daily Mail)
“Yes. I’m not sure what team Jose can pick for Thursday. He’s got a strong squad and he can make rotations. But if you’re not going to get up ready to attack a London derby, then you shouldn’t be in this game.”

The manner in which the games have been scheduled has already led to a number of injuries to players from various clubs. There is no denying that the entire situation is far from desirable. And the removal of the five-substitute rule doesn’t help matters either.
But, we have a strong squad with players capable to step in if an injury issue befalls any player.
