Antonio Rudiger opens up on Chelsea future amid Tottenham links

Speaking to German publication SID (via Metro h/t Football.london), Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has addressed his future at the club amid links with rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The 27-year-old Rudiger came close to leaving Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur mooted strongly. However, a move failed to materialise as he ended up staying at Stamford Bridge. (h/t Football.london)

But there have been suggestions that Tottenham could return for Rudiger in the January transfer window, while the Germany international has also been attracting interest from La Liga giants Barcelona.

Rudiger, though, has insisted that he is happy with his situation at the club, pouring cold water on any speculation over his immediate future at Chelsea. (h/t Football.london)

“I’m satisfied with how the situation has developed in the past weeks. Now I see myself as a permanent part of the team. I had a tough time, so I also checked other transfer options but I received positive signals from the coaching team.”

This comes after Germany national team manager Joachim Low had hinted that the 27-year-old could be on the lookout for a new club come January, indicating that there has been a change in his stance in recent weeks. (h/t Football.london)

A January move for Rudiger may or may not have been on the cards for Tottenham but a new centre-back is something that Jose Mourinho might look to add. More so, considering the speculations surrounding the future of Davinson Sanchez, who isn’t favoured that much by the manager.
